Paris Fashion Week AW19 Trend Report
PARIS—“Sad. That’s how the Front Row feels about Karl Lagerfeld’s death,” said Paris-based fashion journalist Jessica Michault. “It’s the end of an era. The cutting of a cord. Lagerfeld so beautifully understood 20th century French fashion and brought it into the future.” Although the fashion icon’s death brought a shadow of sadness over the world, Paris continues to stay strong and fashionable, as the latest AW19 trends prove so well.
The more mature version of the millennial pink, fuchsia made a big comeback, on anything from dresses to trousers, shirts and skirts to accessories. Although there were many dresses in this shade, designers like Balenciaga and Jacquemus showed us that fuchsia can be worn for day too, not only red-carpet attire.
Definitely seen all over the Fashion Weeks, we’re going to see and wear the slip dress a lot come summer, since they come in a variety of materials and colours, from sequinned to see-through, with lace details, slits, both in long and short versions. Just perfect to suit every body type!
The perfect coin purse – many designers presented micro bags, bags so tiny you can barely fit your phone in them (in some you can’t even do that), but which look really adorable. They were seen at Jacquemus, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Delvaux.
Not necessarily a revelation, but a refreshing trend come winter, when we all tend to sail a sea of black clothes. They were seen at Acne Studios, Chloé, Givenchy, DriesVan Noten and many more.
