Best of Milan Fashion Week FW2019
Bring back the 80s – We simply can’t leave the extravagant, jovial spirit of the 80s behind, as it was found as one of the main themes throughout Milan this season, from soundtracks to clothing. Moschino even turned its catwalk into a giant 1980s-themed gameshow, completed with prizes and applause signs, while 80s details could be seen at other brands, such as Attico and Giuseppe di Morabito, with high necks, oversized shoulders and tons of ruffles. Disco fever, baby!
Grunge – Get your 90s grunge vibes on for the next autumn/winter, as the Versace show opened with Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana! So you can imagine how huge it is: tartan was all over, together with slip-dresses, and an ode to Versace’s own iconic safety pin dress. Marni also went for chains and plaid, worn beautifully over silk dresses, while the oversized checked blazers from Agnona really convinced us of the magnitude of the trend.
Love for lace – Usually a Spring/summer choice, the designers surprised us with this unexpected addition to many F/W catwalks. Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini made the pretties mixes, such as lace dresses with statement black boots – grunge revival once again! Ermanno Scervino’s pieces were also teamed with black leather to give the lace a cool masculine touch, while Prada topped classic cotton shirts with lace overdresses for an edgy twist.
